Google recently piloted the display of author information in search results to help users discover great content. You may have noticed some results show the author’s Google+ profile information including their avatar as shown below.  

As at August 2014 Google dropped support for authorship in search results.

To get Google to display this information you will need a Google+ Profile with a good, recognizable headshot as your profile photo. You will then need to verify authorship of your site by associating it with your profile using either of the methods in the links below:

Option 1: Link your content to your Google+ profile using a verified email address

Option 2: Set up authorship by linking your content to your Google+ profile

This should resolve any authorship errors you get when you test your site using the Google Rich Snippets Testing Tool.
