If you want to use Google Search Console (previously Google Webmaster Tools) to monitor how Google sees your website, then All in One SEO Pack offers a convenient way of authenticating your site with Google Search Console.
First, go to Google Search Console and log into your Google account.
Once you’re logged in, you need to add a new property (top of the left-hand menu). Enter the domain name of your website.
You’ll now see a screen with two sections: “Recommended verification methods” and “Other verification methods”. Click on the “HTML Tag” option under “Other verification methods”.
A unique meta tag will be generated. Copy only the randomly generated number between the quotes from the code (see screenshot below) – not the entire tag – and leave this page open. We will be coming back here to verify your site when we’re done.
Now, head over to your website and go the “General Settings” menu of All in One SEO Pack. Scroll down to the “Webmaster Verification” section and paste the unique code you’ve just copied into the “Google Search Console” field. Make sure you do not include any quotes. Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click “Update Options”.
Go back to the Google Search Console page that you left open before and click “Verify”.
That’s it! Google has now verified your website and you’re free to browse through the different options and information that Google Search Console has to offer you as a site owner.
