Just adding this here.
When running the Facebook Debugger, if you do not have an AppID in place, Debugger returns the following:
b:app_id hasn’t been included in the meta tags. Specify the app ID so that stories shared to Facebook will be properly attributed to the app. Alternatively, app_id can be set in url when open the share dialog. Otherwise, the default app id( 966242223397117 ) will be assigned.
In a post on the free forums, I saw that Peter mentioned most users wouldn’t know how to create a Facebook AppID. That may be true, but now that the Facebook Debugger actually displays this warning message, a field for AppID may now be required.
I don’t want to use my own Facebook UserID on client sites, because I’m not the owner of the site, nor am I a publisher. By leaving this as is forces web developers and consultants to use their own UserID, as sometimes it’s not going to be known what the UserID is of the Page admin. It just makes it easier for everyone for developers and consultants to create and AppID and use that, instead of a UserID. The user who posted the original request on the free forums didn’t argue that point, so Peter may have just assumed end of discussion without realizing the greater importance of AppID as a field.
