Hi, I just had a client who received his monthly report and was concerned there was no traffic in Nov. I looked and traffic dropped to ZERO around Oct 23, and shows nothing since then! I’ve checked the site, and no matter what I do, the Google Analytics does not show up in the source. AiO SEO Pack Pro appears to have stopped inserting the tracking code since the Oct 18th update!!!! And I can’t get it working again!

I’ve checked other sites, and we’re missing data since that time, on others as well. Not all though. And some show a significant decrease in traffic since that time, but still are tracking some hits/visits. I haven’t investigated all to see if the Analytics code is showing up. So I’m unsure what/why it has happened on some but not others. In either case, we need a fix asap!

This is terribly urgent, as you can imagine. That’s lost traffic data we can’t get back.

Looks like I’m not the only one seeing this: https://semperplugins.com/support/general-all-in-one-seo-pack-pro-forum/issues-with-social-sharing-and-google-analytics/

Also, I checked a few of those sites that showed some traffic (a few random visits per day here or there), and those ones are not showing the Analytics code either. I’ve tried with WP Rocket disabled completely, and even flushed the server’s cache (using Flywheel who uses nginx) and it’s still not showing up. The plugin simply doesn’t appear to be inserting the analytics tracking code.

But I’m baffled: one site (my own): https://wordx.press I’m not finding the code in the source either, but it appears to have normal traffic throughout that time. Perhaps I’m searching for the wrong thing? I thought you could see the UA number so I do a find and look for “UA-” or “analytics” or even the whole UA number. But none of those show me anything in the page source, in incognito, of course since I don’t have it tracking logged-in admins.

I’m baffled, and quite worried. Any ideas?

This is strange: view-source:https://wordx.press/r/gf/ this page (custom post type generated by a plugin) shows All in One and the GA codes. But the front-page and other pages and posts, do not: view-source:https://wordx.press/.

It looks like WP Rocket is removed all the line breaks and such on the pages/posts but not on the CPT. So I thought maybe that had something to do with it, but then I checked the original site where I found this, and where I’ve removed WP Rocket: view-source:https://elevationcw.com/ and it’s not showing that, the source is normal with all the line breaks and such. But it’s still no there.

I’m totally baffled. I hope that on our site the data is accurate, but I can’t imagine how it could be tracking, without the tracking code?

I’ve disabled all plugins but AiO SEO, put the hosting in dev mode (no caching or anything), and manually deleted all the caching related folders from the server on the elevationcw.com site. I even removed the UA number from the plugin, saved settings, then added it back and saved again. I still can’t get the analytics tracking to show up. On this site.

I’ve submitted your form with credentials to login for yourself. I can’t leave the plugins off long-term, so I’ll enable them again. But it does appear they’re not an issue here, as it’s still broken with them all disabled. I’ll leave dev mode on, and WP Rocket off. So there should be no caching issues involved while you look.

We need some answers as quickly as possible. Thanks.

To make sure I understand: we need to enable that and make sure it’s on for pages and posts, right?

In there it says not to worry, that no data is lost. But how can that be? If it wasn’t tracking, there’s no data, right? And why do some sites have data, with no tracking code, and others seem to have no data in analytics?

I’m confused and need to know what we need to check for/change on all our sites.

Thank you. So if this was fixed in 2.6 why does it not appear to have affected us until 2.10?

Okay, that makes sense.

The article for 2.6 says “scroll down to SEO for Custom Post Types”. I don’t see any such thing. There is “Content Type Settings” section with “SEO for Content Types” under that. Just to make sure: that’s what the blog post is referring to, right?

If so, setting that to Enabled, then checking Pages, Posts, and whatever CPT’s should fix this issue, right? Or just disabling it, so it tracks everything, right?

I’ve enabled that, then checked pages, posts, and some CPT’s on this site: https://utahdts.com/ but it’s still not loading. Nothing in the source. What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I’ll do that.

Our own site https://wordx.press has been configured correctly all along. However, the tracking code is not showing in Posts and Pages, only on one the CPT that’s also checked. It’s baffling that GA still seems to be tracking everything just fine, but in spite of that, the plugin is not outputting the GA tracking code to the pages and posts as it should.

It does look like the schema for the equivalent social media properties is in there (at least on the home page) but no GA code…?

…and shouldn’t “disabled” also work? The description says that means it tracks everything. I’m seeing this same issue on samuelmarvin.com where it’s set to disabled???

I guess I don’t have much choice but to just start listing things here:

  • 247prosolutions.com – settings are correct, GA data looks good, but no tracking code. NOTE: not using Divi theme.
  • utahdts.com – settings are correct, no GA data recorded, no tracking code.
  • gowithityoga.com – settings are correct, some GA data recorded but with HUGE drop off (hundreds per day to less than 10), no tracking code.
  • marksarkutah.com – settings are correct, GA data looks good, no tracking code.
  • myhealthinsurancespecialists.com – was disabled then I enabled and corrected options, no GA data recorded, tracking code shows after clearing cache!
  • samuelmarvin.com – settings are correct, some GA data but big drop off, no tracking code.
  • vantagedairysupplies.com – settings are correct, GA data looks good, no tracking code.
  • wordx.press – settings are correct, GA data looks good, no tracking code.

This is just a few sites that are higher priority. We have a bunch more that we haven’t checked. But hopefully this is a good enough sample, to figure out the issue. All the sites, except the first one use the Divi theme. Most use similar plugins. So we’re really stumped as to:

  1. Why the fix works on some sites, but not others?
  2. How some sites are tracking without the tracking code?
  3. How some sites are tracking some minimal portion of traffic, without the tracking code?

We’ll send you access to all of these sites so you can take a look….

@Michael I’m not sure what I was looking at. I thought the little tool tip said that disabled meant it would track everything. I reviewed now, and see that’s not the case.

@Steve WP Rocket is supposed to ignore Google Analytics tracking. So that should not be the issue. If it is, maybe something is wrong on their end? But I’ve enabled WP Rocket and “Minify JavaScript files” like 247 had, and it’s working fine there. In fact, if you look at the source, you’ll see the GA tracking code has it’s line-breaks in tact. It completely excludes that from it’s optimization/caching settings. So maybe something else in WP Rocket is affecting it, but that should not be the issue… and isn’t causing the same problem on elevationcw.com.

Investigating more now.

It might be on that site, but it’s not on elevationcw.com which has it turned on and is working fine…. And since elevation uses Divi theme, like most of the rest, it’s more similar to the rest.

I’m testing more now….
