Fairly straight forward – Should No-indexed urls be in sitemap?

If not then how and where to amend the settings to get them from not showing up in the sitemap.

I have the scenario of entering a no-indexed url into Google… and seeing the sitemap show up in the search results… as the no-indexd url is in that sitemap…

Hi ncheesman,

If you don’t want your noindexed then you can use the Excluded Items setting in the XML Sitemap Module.  This will allow you to exclude specific categories or pages.

We have documentation on our site for the Excluded Items setting, you can find it here:  http://semperplugins.com/docum…..ps-module/

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Nina,

But what if the post is in a category where other items are needed to be indexed?

IF a ‘No-Index’ Category is created and a post is also in another Indexed Category would the post be indexed?

Hi ncheesman,

If a post is in a category that does not have a no index setting then it will be indexed.

Thanks,

Nina

Sorry, I got a bit confused there.

If you have a post in two categories and you’ve checked the box for one of those categories in the Excluded Items section of the Sitemap Module, then it will not be included on your sitemap.

Thanks,

Nina

Thanks Nina… THAT is what I hope for :)

is there a method for displaying or filtering all of the ‘no-index’ posts?

If you are applying noindex by excluding certain categories from your sitemap then you can view all of the posts in that category at once, but there is no specific functionality in All in One SEO Pack that will display all of your no-index posts for you.

Thanks,

Nina

Nina… I would have liked to be able to sort them by ‘no-index’ BEFORE putting them in a category but I guess that is out of the window.. thanks for your help…
