http://www.WebCookingClasses.com

I have enabled the Social Meta settings on AIOSEO and chosen an image in “social settings” on my blog post: http://www.webcookingclasses.c…..king-tips/

However, when I post this link to my business page (facebook.com/chef.todd.mohr, it offers 3 random images but not the one chosen for the post.

I have spent hours researching how to fix this and nothing has helped.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Heather

Hi Heather,

Whatever you enter into the Image field in the Social Settings tab for a page or post will be added to your site as the OG:image for that page/post.  However, you are running another plugin in addition to All in One SEO Pack that is outputting your OG meta, it’s possible that this plugin is causing a conflict on your site.  Will you please try deactivating the Open Graph Meta Tags for Facebook and LinkedIn Sharing plugin and checking to see whether All in One SEO Pack is able to output the OG meta correctly?

Thanks,

Nina

Thanks for the response. I didn’t have a plugin called “LinkedIn Sharing” installed or active, but I deactivated the OG Meta Tags for FB and also the Digg Digg alternative plugin and the Social Media widget, but when I try to post the link, it is still displaying the same 3 incorrect image options.

Hi Heather,

You can find the plugin I mentioned above in line 125 of your source code.  It’s called Open Graph Meta Tags for Facebook and LinkedIn Sharing and it is outputting OG meta on your site.  You can’t have two plugins outputting the OG meta at the same time, it will cause conflicts.  In order for us to troubleshoot this that plugin will need to be deactivated.

You can check what Facebook can see as your Open Graph info using their debugger here:  https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

I checked your sample post in the debugger and it came back with multiple errors, including issues with your OG:image.  The majority of these errors are most likely to do with the fact that there are multiple plugins outputting the OG meta info.

Thanks,

Nina

I’m sorry I thought you were referencing 2 different plugins. I have deactivated Facebook Featured Image and Open Graph Meta Tags plugin now and did also test with this plugin deactivated before. But it is confirmed deactivated now. Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Heather,

Great, thanks for doing that.  You were still getting the same errors in the Facebook Debugger so I checked your site out again and noticed that you have some more OG meta being output in your code, starting at line 254.  Unfortunately, we can’t tell what is doing this on our end, there is nothing obvious in your code that can tell us.  It’s possibly hard coded into your theme or it could be another plugin on your site.  The only way to find out is if you do some standard troubleshooting; restoring to a default theme that ships with WordPress (try twenty twelve) and then checking your code and testing in the Facebook Debugger.  If it isn’t the theme you’ll need to deactivate each of the plugins you’ve got installed on your site one by one to see which of them may be outputting this meta info.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nina
