With the latest versions of WPML, OnTheGoSystems has introduced a new system called ‘Translation editor’ that facilitates translation of texts in page or post when using Page Builders, with this system the texts of each shortcode can be translated individually. From inside a page or posts a pencil is shown that gives access to the ‘Translation editor’ of the shortcodes found on that page or post.
When you are inside the ‘Translation editor’ all the texts of the shortcodes are translated, and when you finished the translation then you must click on the ‘Save and close’ button.
Lately I was noticing that it took a lot longer to get into the ‘Translation editor’, but the biggest problem was when I clicked on the ‘Save and close’ button, since our home page took 10 minutes to do the entire save and close and to exit the ‘Translation editor’.
I contacted the WPML support team and they told me to do several tests, we finally discovered that the problem is in your plugin. When it is active it takes 10 minutes to save and close the ‘Translation editor’, but if it is deactivated it will take about 1 minute to save and close the ‘Translation editor’.

What can we do to solve the problem?

The minute I’m talking about, it’s on the page with more shortcodes on my entire web. In the rest of pages or posts is much less time.

I have an updated Plesk Onyx 17.5.3, which is the most modern of Plesk, with CentOS Linux 7.3.1611
PHP 7.0.20
MariaDB 10.1.22
Memory_limit 2048M

WP Memory limit 2048M

It is the ultimate in hardware and software for VPS.
Processor 4 cores
6GB RAM
SSD
I do not think I can improve this features. 😉

In fact, other plugin procedures that require intensive memory and process speed, work perfectly.
No error is displayed in the browser console, nor in the debug.log file

I have opened a ticket with the WPML team and they are also seeing the problem.

Even though you have lots of memory on the VPS it does not mean that all of it is allocated to PHP, that depends on how PHP has been configured.

you did not say whether you have checked the browser console for errors or the server and WordPress error logs

Steve,

I have deactivated the newsletter plugin and activated the All-in-one plugin, and indeed, now ‘Save and close’ (home page) takes 2 minutes.
The strange thing is that if I activate the newsletter plugin and turn off the All-in-one ‘Save and close’ plugin takes 1 minute.
If I have the 2 active ‘Save and close’ plugins it takes 10 minutes.
How is it possible that if the culprit of the problem is the Newsletter plugin when it is active only take 1 minute?
I do not understand. It’s strange. Is the combination of the newsletter plugin with your plugin that produces the problem?
Where do you see the error?
What steps do you follow to see the error you tell me?
