This is about the XML Sitemap generated by All in One SEO Pack Pro for http://www.kevinfitzmaurice.com.

The sitemap generator is causing multiple problems with Google Analytics (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/).

The sitemap generator produces 683 URLs. Many of these are duplicate pages. Many of these are junk or non-content pages from commerce pages or pages serving other functions.

Since my website is content driven, I have more than one link to the same content page under different topics and categories of information. This means that one page can and sometimes does occur more than once on my website. However, it is only one page, but it is being counted by All in One SEO Pack Pro as distinct and separate pages which makes Google flag them as errors, for example, for having the same Meta Data (titles, descriptions, keywords).

When I generate a sitemap using http://www.web-site-map.com/, for instance, I do not have these problems at all. This program generates only 531 URLs and none of them are either junk pages or duplicates of the same page.

The solution seems to be to go back to using http://www.web-site-map.com/ until SEO fixes this problem that is generating misinformation.

Thanks for your reply. You are the right person to help me with this. Thanks.

http://www.kevinfitzmaurice.com

I do want SEO sitemap to work because of its auto updating of links for new material and the convenience of having it on my website. However, I am not sure which boxes to check or uncheck.

I have looked at the documentation for some of the boxes, but it does not tell me what I need to know. I need to know what will Google see as junk or what will Google see as duplicates. Since those are what I believe are the problems, then those are what I need to uncheck once I figure out what boxes are causing the problems.

Currently, I have all Post Types boxes checked.

Currently, I have all Taxonomies boxes checked.

I would be more than happy to uncheck whichever ones are causing the errors.

Here are the Google reports:

Like I originally stated, Google is seeing double pages when pages are referenced more than once. And this only happens with Semper, not other sitemap tools. Google is also seeing junk pages: holding pages, slider pages, parts of pages, and other irrelevant pages and parts of pages as pages. And this only happens with Semper, not other sitemap tools.

Of the 643 that Google mentions, most all are listed as two pages that are the exact same page only the page is approached in the file structure of the website from different locations (duplicated). For example, the same page might exist on a list for both “Coping Skills” and “Counseling Issues”. The rest of the duplicates are for page parts that have more than one part or function within or to themselves so are repeated, and, hence, show up as duplicates. I do not have any duplicate Meta Data.

I did not have this problem before converting my website to WordPress. My website has been up since 2000, and I am very familiar with using Google and Bing tools to comply with SEO standards. The Meta Data was copied for the new website version in WordPress. The reason you cannot then say, “Well it must be WordPress’s fault,” is because I still do not have this problem when using other sitemap tools.

Again, the pattern is that your sitemap tool is reporting double pages and junk pages.

Again, the pattern is that your sitemap tool is reporting far more pages to Google than other sitemap tools.

I deactivated the sitemap function. I am using the same tool that I used for sitemap building before without any issues. I will try yours again after a major update. Thanks for your time and effort. I have to focus my time on other issues. Thanks again.
