Hi

I have a csv file with about 130 email addresses I’d like to import as Registered users – rather than public users (but not to issue with emails or passwords). Is this possible or will I need to add them in manually one at a time?

Thanks

Vic

Sorry to bother you again.

I added 137 entries into Registered users. We then issued a couple of posts today but now no one is receiving full html  alerts which when we tested last week with a few subscribers, we were. As we have the paid Subscribe 2 html I assumed we had no limited. Any ideas why the email alerts might ahve stopped dropping – previously they came through within 15 minutes. Nothing else has changed apart from me registering 137 users.

Thanks

Vic

Thanks for the quick reply.

I checked the category issue and Idon’t think that is it as we always categorize our posts (it is a news / press release site).

The emails have just started dropping – and the emails look fine, but it took about an hour and a half, where as when we’ve tested before they all arrived within about 15 minutes.

Our IT support was questioning if this was affected by the following setting:

  1. In the Subscribe2->Settings page under the Email Settings tab make sure you have set the number of recipients per email to 1 (This is the default). Setting it higher than 1 sends a single email to groups of individuals and while this is a little more efficient it also looks a lot more like spam and is more likely to be blocked or filtered by anti-spam measures.

Ours has been set at 0 the whole time as everything we have read says to set it to 0 which is unlimited.

It may be our system is just being slow today, but it will be a real issue for us if the posts all take over an hour to arrive and people get them at different times.

I think we host externally, although our support comes internally as we are a local authority. My tech support person was going to check with our providers if there was an issue with the hosting etc as that sounds the most likely reason. I’ll test more posts today and fingers crossed it was a one off blip! Thanks for your help.

Our hosting company sent the following message:

Thank you for getting in touch.

Could you please clarify if you are getting any error message when trying to send the newsletter or they are just not arriving at the recipient? (We aren’t and the emails do eventually arrive after an hour an a half but not at the same time).

If the plugin is sending the emails through phpmail() they may be delayed and sometimes not delivered at all, so we always recommend using SMTP to send emails through contact forms and newsletters. A plugin you could use is WP Easy SMTP and simply set it to send the emails through an existing mailbox and use mail3.gridhost.co.uk as SMTP host with port 465.

If you like assistance with setting up the plugin, we will need you to provide us with your WordPress admin page login details and the last four digits of the credit card associated with your account, so we could verify you as the account owner.

However – I thought some hosts put a limit on the amount of emails you can send out, so is it more likely to be something like this? Apologies I have no technical background so I don’t know if we are using SMTP or PHP.

Thanks – we’ll give that a try.

Also had the following from our hosts which may be the root of the problem! Funny they didn’t mention this before….

There are limits, yes. Recipient Limit Per Email: 100 if using authentication.

Our cloud mail is not suitable if you send bulk emails as often you might end up sending via a bad reputation mail ip address. I would recommend you getting dedicated mail relay for 9.99 per month where you’ll be routed via server where there are basically no limits.
