I have two sites running php7/nginx (Ubuntu 14.04) which fail when trying to update from AIOPro 2.3.7.1 to 2.4.9.2. All other sites running php5.x/nginx update without incident.

Error text: An error occurred while updating All in One SEO Pack Pro: Download failed. Too many redirects.

URL = http://wptestsite.com

Can you please help me figure out what’s wrong here? Thanks in advance.

I’ve now upgraded 2.3.7.1 on php5.x site, downloaded 2.4.9.2 from there, and then installed 2.4.9.2 on one of the php7/nginx sites via upload over 2.3.7.1. It works perfectly. Problem seems to be in the upgrade from dashboard process.

Any ideas?

Yes it’s frustrating and somewhat embarrassing, particularly since the host is me 🙁

I’ve been using unmanaged hosting for many years at http://sshvm.com, so I have total root access to everything (although I always disable root 🙂

This is a first for me, and the php7 upgrade has been online and working since last June with no ill effects and no problem updating any other theme or plug-in thusfar.

I’m now trying hardcoding the urls and checking things in wp-config. I’ll report back if and when I can find something. I was hoping you’d seen this before, and was suspecting it was related to running php7.

Thanks Michael.

Too many redirects can mean a lot of things unfortunately.

Of that I’m well-aware. It’s just that the upgrade to 7 is the only difference in those two servers vs. the others. It’s possible that some new element was introduced as part of the PHP7 repo I used. Tomorrow I’ll upgrade another 12.04 LTE to 14.04 leaving PHP at 5.x, and I’ll see what happens. BTW, all the other servers, which are 12.04 at the moment, upgraded to the 2.3.7.1 version without incident. I’ll also take a look at the PHP logs to see if that will tell me anything… ran out of time for that today.

Thanks again and have a good weekend, Michael.

We are having the problem too.  We’re running Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS with PHP 5.5.9 on a self-managed AWS instance http://www.epiloguesystems.com.

I can do the manual upgrade but can’t find the pro version download.  My old link from the email doesn’t work.

I have seen other posts that seem to indicate it has a problem updating an http site from an https link.  idk.

Thanks

Mike G
