Hi Matt,

We just bought this plugin because we want the email to display HTML and images. But the email feed looks exactly the same as it did before we upgraded to the HTML version. We have added in the license key and made sure that the email should display HTML – Full. Is there something that I am missing?

I have also deleted the the old plugin through FTP in case these settings where affecting the premium plugin.

Cheers

Mattis

A couple of quick questions (hopefully). I currently am using the free version of Subscribe2 and have several hundred subscribers. I recently purchased the HTML version but wanted to clarify something about installation:

1) To install it, can I simply use the “Plugins” -> “Add New” -> “Upload” function (i.e. {BLOGLINK}/wp-admin/plugin-install.php?tab=upload) and upload the subscribe2_html.zip file? Or do I need to do this procedure outlined above in the first post (via FTP) in order for it to work?

2) Should I “deactivate” the old “free” plugin? If so when? BEFORE removing it via FTP (as described above in the first post)?

3) Also, I am using the subscription function within several individual posts and pages within my website, will I need to recode those or will they continue to work as is? What about the sidebar “widget” that is currently installed, does it need to be removed and added back?

4) Approximately how wide (in pixels) are email templates that get sent out? Are there ways to apply styles, css to the HTML version of the e-mail or does it pick up anything from the site’s design template?

Thanks very much for your assistance.

1/ Download the zip archive after purchase to your local computer
2/ Unpack the archive
3/ Upload the entire ‘subscribe2_html’ folder to wp-content/plugins/
4/ Visit the Plugins page in the WordPress admin area and activate the plugin

If necessary erase the ‘wp-content/plugins/subscribe2’ folder using FTP to remove the free version of the code from your site.
DO NOT delete the free version from within the WordPress plugin management page or you will lose all of the plugin settings and data.

Hi Matt,

I followed the instruction above. [Note, my problem was I was getting the Fatal Error message below].  I then followed your recommendation above in steps 1-4. But same Error Msg.  I then erased the Subscribe2 folder as you suggest and then Subscribe2 HTML worked, BUT asked that I re-install Subscribe2 so the Widget Pro would work.  So added Subscribe2 back via FTP and the error is back OR it completely freezes of the site (had both happen in trials).  So I’m back to square one.

What should I try next? – Ted O’Brien 917 609 5699 http://blog.starbridgepartners.com is the URL.

Matthew, the S2 HTML install went well… now I can start using it. Thanks!

@Ted,

You need to follow the upgrade instructions as above again and install the HTML version beside the free version. Then deactivate the free version and also the Subscribe2 Widget Pro plugin.

Activate the Subscribe2 HTML plugin.

To re-enable Subscribe2 Widget Pro you need to edit the main file of that plugin (subscribe2-widget-pro.php), find this line:

if (!is_plugin_active(‘subscribe2/subscribe2.php’)) {

And change it to:

if (!is_plugin_active(‘subscribe2_html/subscribe2.php’)) {

Matt,

I too was trying to get both the Subscribe2 Pro and Subscribe2 HTML to work. After following your above instructions and changing S2P’s widget code, it was still telling me I needed to activate Subscribe 2 in order for Pro to work.  Of course doing so then gave me the error message again and crashed my site. Is it possible to have both plugins working??  clarion.californiadar.org is the site I am working on.  Thanks!
