Hi Support,

I have a home page with several other sub pages in http://www.skyparkresidencesec…..om. While trying to improve my site ranking, I notice two things in SEO,

1. If user type “KeywordA”, the google search engine may go to any of my sub-pages besides my main page at different time. Although the ranking is not on first page.

2. If user type “KeyworkA+KeywordB”, the search engine get the right match of page for the two keywords.

My question are;

i) If it is possible for SEO to go to my home page if he type “KeywordA” instead of going to any of my sub-pages, without disabling the search on all my sub-pages?

ii) Are all my sub-pages written with “KeywordA” going to improve the ranking of my site?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Senghong,

Google no longer takes keywords into account for search rankings, we have posted some information on Keyword Settings in our documentation which includes a link to Google’s explanation of why they treat keywords the way they do.  You can continue to use keywords if you like, but the way you use them will not affect your Google ranking.

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Support,

I am still not very clear about this and I am not talking about keywords settings you have in SEO All In One.

Let say I am trying to improve my ranking of my site with 3 pages with KeywordA. The question is if there is any differences in ranking for;

1. 1st page NOINDEX not ticked, but 2nd & 3rd page NOINDEX option ticked.

2. All 3 pages NOINDEX not ticked -> all indexed.

I didn’t want the search engine to return result of page 2 or 3, but only need page 2 and 3 to improve my ranking for KeywordA. Which one is the better choice?

Thanks

Hi senghong,

I can’t tell you which of the scenarios you described would guarantee you the best results.  You need to determine what is more important to you:  using the content on pages 2 and 3 to improve your ranking, or excluding pages 2 and 3 from search results.  Keep in mind that the noindex setting is a request, not a command, and any page that you use noindex on can still be crawled by following links to that page.

Thanks,

Nina

Nina,

So it seems like to improve the ranking, I have to index them and the chances is the search engine may landed in Page 2 or 3 instead of Page 1.

I will experiment with NOINDEX on page 2 and 3 to see if the search engine crawls.

Thanks

Seng Hong
