Hello,

I added a emoji from iemoji.com to the title tag for a test on a website with it. Instead of copying the HTML characters, I copied the emoji itself.

It crashes the site completely, and I delete AIO SEO and it works fine, but if I try to reactivate AIO SEO again I get the following error:

Fatal error: Cannot unset string offsets in /home/content/11/9908211/html/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack-pro/aioseop_functions.php on line 41

Help! I’m digging through the database for the site now to try to find where AIO stores this value to delete it but am coming up short.

Edit: I found the area of AIO in wp_postmeta table but – I only edited home page, pages and posts with this character and its just not there.

cleared out post titles as I could see…

Gotcha I’m seeing that now.

Yes the bug was converting even the decimal html entity into the actual emoji symbol after you save once, if you save again with the emoji symbol after that, it was breaking the array in aioseop_options

thank you for your guidance

It sounds like you’re running into a problem with your stored options in the plugin; really I see no reason why you should be getting this error, and I can’t reproduce it here. But you could try commenting out or removing that line in the plugin, it’s there just to migrate a legacy plugin setting.  If you search your database for the emoji character you could find it is marked as an empty character.

I should add that we’re not planning on supporting emojis in titles because Google officially announced they were no longer going to support them.

I did take out that line in plugin but it gave me a bunch of warnings on front-end of website after that – just fyi. Sorry for all my replies…
