Hi Paula,

I’d be happy to help you with this, can you please tell me what errors you are seeing and the URL of the site you are having sitemap issues with?

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Paula,

Thanks for posting that information.

It looks as though you’ve got Enable Sitemap Indexes checked in the XML Sitemaps Module.  You only need to use Sitemap Indexes if you have 50,000 urls or more on your site.  In your case, the Sitemap Index setting is creating a sitemap for areas of your site with no content, so there is an index created that has no urls in it.  Google considers this an error.  To fix this you can uncheck the Enable Sitemap Indexes box, click Update Options, and resubmit your sitemap via Google Webmaster Tools using the directions below.  If you still receive errors after resubmitting your sitemap please let us know.

1.  On the Webmaster Tools Homepage, click the site you want.
2.  Click the Sitemaps bar on the Site Dashboard
3.  Check the box next to the sitemap you want to resubmit.
4.  Click the Resubmit button at the top of the menu, select Yes from the popup menu.
5.  Once the sitemap is successfully resubmitted, refresh the page.

Thanks,

Nina

I unchecked the indexes and NOW I get this error when I click UPDATE SITE MAP in the module on the WP admin page.

If you want to login to fix – send me a private email to paula@eastendbusinesssolutions.com and I will send you login info

Fatal error: Cannot use object of type WP_Error as array in /home/plussize/public_html/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack-pro/aioseop_sitemap.php on line 639

Thank You

Hi Paula,

That error means that your site is unable to contact Google and/or Bing to notify them of changes.  Uncheck the Notify Google and Notify Bing boxes and see if this clears the error for you.

Thanks,

Nina

Yes that fixed the problem but it reduces the value of your software to my business,

how can I get google and bing notified – without – having to send a separate email every day?

Hi Paula,

This is actually an issue with your server configuration, not All in One SEO Pack Pro.  If you want it to be fixed you’ll need to get in touch with your hosting provider.

You can try checking the Notify Google/Bing boxes one at a time to see if you’re able to contact one or the other.

I’m sorry that we’re unable to help you further, if your hosting provider is able to fix this for you and you’re still seeing errors with your sitemap please let us know.

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Paula,

If neither Bing nor Google get notified for you, you can tell your host that we use a function called wp_remote_get() in WordPress that uses cURL, Streams, or fsockopen in that order to try to make HTTP requests.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that.

Thanks,

Nina
