Hello,

when I try and add SEO title, keywords and description to pages on the main page menu by clicking the pencil icon, all seems to work until I press the green tick to save. Then I get the Please wait spinning icon which remains looping. Nothing gets completed or saved. I thought maybe a temporary glitch so refreshed the page and nothing has saved. Any ideas?

Hi Jon,

This is most likely an Ajax error on your site.  You can check this by using the Inspect Element tool in Chrome; try to add text to one of the fields and click the green check mark as you were doing before, go to Inspect Element, and select the Network tab.  You’ll see the requests start to line up on the left side, one of them should have this information in the preview:

 jQuery(‘div#aioseop_title_795’).fadeOut(‘fast’, function() { jQuery(‘div#aioseop_title_795’).html(‘test’).fadeIn(‘fast’);});

If you see an error before that line, please tell us what it says or copy and paste it here.

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Nina,

I don’t see any line like the above. There’s loads of jquery-1.10.2.min.map  and  admin-ajax.php lines that all seem fine. The only 2 errors I see are:

jquery-1.10.2.min.map
/wp-includes/js/jquery

which gets a 404 not found and:

jquery-1.10.2.min.map
/wp-admin

which gets (failed) pending

Hi Jon,

The two errors you are seeing are known issues with WordPress 3.6, you can wait for the patch they’ll be releasing soon or use this contact form to ask us for a copy of the file you need.

The admin-ajax.php requests will need to be checked as they appear.  So, after you enter some content and click the green check mark you’ll need to click on each admin-ajax.php request that comes up and check to see if there is an error showing in the preview.  This is the information we’d need in order to help you figure out what’s going on.

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Nina,

I’ve just sent a contact form request.

In the meantime, is the plug in working correctly when set to auto generate the descriptions etc?

Does this know wordpress issue only affect the manual updating/editing of meta?

Not 100% sure what you mean here (sorry!)?

The admin-ajax.php requests will need to be checked as they appear.  So, after you enter some content and click the green check mark you’ll need to click on each admin-ajax.php request that comes up and check to see if there is an error showing in the preview.  This is the information we’d need in order to help you figure out what’s going on.

Does this mean in the inspect element network tab I need to copy each error? The only ones that appeared are the ones in my previous reply.

Also is there a way to be notified by email about replies to this thread? I can’t see any checkbox and I am not receiving notifications.

Thanks

Hi Jon,

All in One SEO Pack is working correctly for auto-generate descriptions, and the known issue with WordPress 3.6 isn’t what is causing your problem with All in One SEO Pack.  I wanted to give you the option to clear the errors that you mentioned in your previous post which is why I emailed you the file you need to upload.

In order to figure out the problem with manually editing the title and description via the main page menu you’ll need to check those admin-ajax.php requests as they come up.  The most important one will be the one that comes up right after you enter the content and click the green check mark, there should be an error showing before this line:

 jQuery(‘div#aioseop_title_795’).fadeOut(‘fast’, function() { jQuery(‘div#aioseop_title_795’).html(‘test’).fadeIn(‘fast’);});

Figuring out the error that you’re getting when you try to manually edit the data is the only way that we’ll be able to help you figure out what the problem is.

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Nina,

sorry for the delay.

I’ve just tried again and when I click on the admin-ajax.php names in the network inspector, they are all showing:

server_time: 1379343282
wp-auth-check: true

with different server times on each one. Am I looking in the wrong place I wonder? I’m checking the network tab on inspect element in Chrome.

Nowhere does it show:

jQuery(‘div#aioseop_title_795’).fadeOut(‘fast’, function() {
jQuery(‘div#aioseop_title_795’).html(‘test’).fadeIn(‘fast’);});

If I click on the console tab I can see:

The page at https://elegantlyorganic.co.uk/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page displayed insecure content from http://elegantlyorganic.co.uk/…..n-ajax.php.

could this be the issue?

This issue with manually updating the meta is only a recent problem, it was working fine a few weeks ago before I updated.

Hi Jon,

Great, thanks for that information.  It does look like the problem is that All in One SEO Pack is trying to request http not https.  Are you able to access your wp-admin through http instead of https?

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Jon,

If you can’t access through http instead of https you can try making the code change below, it will change the way that All in One SEO Pack gets your Site URL.

In the file all_in_one_seo_pack.php around lines 65 – 66 change this:

if ( ! defined( ‘WP_ADMIN_URL’ ) )
define( ‘WP_ADMIN_URL’, get_option( ‘siteurl’ ) . ‘/wp-admin’ );

to this:

if ( ! defined( ‘WP_ADMIN_URL’ ) )
define( ‘WP_ADMIN_URL’, site_url() . ‘/wp-admin’ );

Let us know how this goes and if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Nina

Hi Nina,

no I have set it so that admin can only be accessed on https for extra security.

I will try your changes. I guess then that these changes will need re doing every time the plugin is updated?

Hi Jon,

If this change works for you then we will include it in the next release of the plugin, you won’t have to update it manually each time.

Please let us know if the change does work.

Thanks,

Nina
