Our html code including 4 lines of CSS definitions (only used to set the link color/appearance) is no longer working properly after upgrading from S2html ver. 8.5.

The 4 CSS lines are now showing as plain text at the top of the e-mail we send out + there is suddenly alot of space is inserted both before and after each element (text, img and so on). This only happens when we use S2html ver. 8.9.1 – the exact same code works fine in version 8.5.

Our problems can be split into two seperate questions:
1) Is it no longer possible to include CSS directly in the html code?
Our CSS code looks like this

a {color:#0e99d7; font-size:20; text-decoration:none;}
a:hover {color:#C0C0C0; font-size:20; text-decoration:underline;}
a.top {color:#0e99d7; font-size:12; text-decoration:none;}
a.top:hover {color:#C0C0C0; font-size:12; text-decoration:underline;}

2) The large amount of space before and after each element in the e-mail can only be eliminated if we insert the html code as one long string of text (without any linebreaks), making the code a little difficult for us to read. Each time there is a spacing between the tags in the html code or the next tag starts on a new line, the e-mail that is sent out is showing these spaces and new lines as a breakline tag.
Hope this makes sense, otherwise I will try to rephrase it upon requst Smile

Best, Thomas

Thanks for your quick response!

I updated via the plugins page, but it seems that this only updates the standard S2 plugin and as you describes reverts to the non-html version. Therefore I actually uninstalled the entire S2 plugin and downloaded the newest version form SemperPlugins.com and manually uploaded the .zip file as a fresh install. The html part is working because it shows my images and included table cells – the only part not working in the new version is the CSS we always have used.

The problem with the line breaks didn’t occur until the upgrade, but as you suggest I can just paste it into my Dreamweaver, whenever I need to make changes – so this is the smallest of my problems :)

Thanks for the code! I have just tried to add the function/filter you suggest in my custom_functions.php file for my theme (Thesis 1.8.5), but it doesn’t really do anything. Is it the correct file I’m adding the filter inside? It also seems there’s an end-head-tag missing, so I triede adding it myself, but still without any result.
