Hello.

Is there a way to make the excerpt sent by Subscribe2Html be the post excerpt entered in the WP Excerpt field? Or does it already work that way?

Thank you from a S2 beginner.

No need to reply, I tested the excerpt and it works great. For anyone else questioning this topic, the excerpt meta field in wordpress by default works great for custom tailoring the S2 excerpted HTML and plain text emails. It is set to do so by default, so no set-up is necessary to make it work. Whatever text you enter into this field will be the post content of your email.

Our first Subscribe2 subscriber e-mail went out today, and everyone received HTML e-mails that showed the entire post, even though the post had an excerpt added into the Wordpress excerpt field. Is there another config setting that needs to be changed in order for only the excerpt to be sent to subscribers?

I had the developer create a plug in with this code. Does this look like it wil work in terms of just sending an excerpt email to the public subscribers?

<?php
/*
Plugin Name: subscribe2 Excerpt
Plugin URI:
Description:
Version:
Author:
Author URI:
License:
License URI:
*/
function my_preferred_format() {
// return one of the possible email types:
// ‘html_body’ for a full content HTML email
// ‘html_excerpt_body’ for an excerpt in HTML format
// ‘plain_body’ for a full content plain text email
// ‘plain_excerpt_body’ for an excerpt in plain text format
return ‘html_excerpt_body’;
}
add_filter(‘s2_public_subscriber_format’, ‘my_preferred_format’);

I tried this and it does not change anything.  Ive found 3 different ways to do this on your forum, and none of them work.  Can you help?

Hi Matthew

Can we use this method to have excerpts with no image?

I need to brief my programmers but am unsure of what I should tell them.

The client wants the emails to go out to public and registered subscribers as excerpts with no image.

Can you guide me please?

Thanks

Karen

Thanks, this is the news page: http://www.aqmesh.com/aqmesh-s…..acs-paper/

They put an image in at the beginning. So, if I get them to follow this:

“If you tend to post an image early on you may want to increase the excerpt size but strip out the HTML image tags using the ‘s2_html_email’ filter.”

We will get a short excerpt and no images? Will this take out the logo at the top too, or can we just target the images in the excerpt?
