Site began experiencing slow loading on 03/28/2018.  WP and all plugins are on the latest versions. The issue did not appear when the last updates were applied and nothing was updated contiguous to the slowdown.

I disabled all plugins on the site and began adding activating and deactivating one at a time. Subscribe2 HTML is the culprit (running as the only plugin site is slow, disabled as only plugin site is fast, disabled with all other plugins loaded site is fast).  I currently have it disabled to overcome the problem.

I could not find my post so decided to start over.  Thanks for the link   🙁

When I have tested I’ve done so with ONLY subscribe2 html activated.  Therefore, I don’t think jetpack nor google ajax search could be the issue.  However, I’ve disabled the google ajax search at this time.

I’ve contacted the web host to explain no one else is having this issue.  They are supposed to be switching me to a different server.  I’ll post the results.

Thanks

Hi

We are using Subscribe 2 HTML and have been for years. AFter the last update, we are getting the same problem as above. Wordpress is taking 20 seconds to load the Front Page when it should only take about 3. In debug mode, WP shows this:

[04-Apr-2018 04:33:15 UTC] PHP Warning:  The URL http://semperplugins.com/upgrade_plugins.php?checking_for_updates=1&installed_version=11.0&plugin=subscribe2&secret=3KS86184R7902351X does not point to a valid plugin metadata file. WP HTTP Error: cURL error 28: Connection timed out after 10000 milliseconds in /var/www/html-1/rickackerman/wp-content/plugins/subscribe2_html/plugin-updates/plugin-update-checker.php on line 947

It seems to be trying to update itself and hanging the whole system.  When I deactivate the plugin all returns to normal. We do not use a Jetpack plugin. Can we get this looked at as it is causing a big problem

Website is http://www.rickackerman.com

Thanks

That’s ok, but the plugin is causing a severe slowdown. Its deactivated now, but I would like to use it. Do I need to delete and reinstall to get it working and how do I protect our data when I do that

I believe it is since the update. I would like to try the previous version. Would I just uninstall the latest version and then install the previous version?

Sory about that Matthew. I added a current email to myaccount. send the prior version. Nothing changed on our site before the upgrade.

DO you have any idea why the current version is giving us the slowdown problem? Please also send me the current version and Iwill also try to directly replace it and see if that fixes the problem.

Matthew,

My webhost states they made no changes to the hosting server, see nothing in error logs, and can’t determine a cause though they’ve verified it is subscribe2 html that is causing the issue.  Should I also revert to a previous version?  If so, how do I go about doing that?

Sorry

Yes I got it Matthew. I would like a copy on the latest version so I can FTP it and test it w/o upgrading the prior version

When I switched to the previous version, the slowdown imediatley stopped and the previous version is operating normally. I will FTP the new version back up to Wordpress later today and see what happens

Thanks Matthew for the downloads

I’ve removed the current version of subscribe2 html, loaded and activated the dropbox version and the slowdown has been solved.

Site is currently running “native” 5.3 PHP on Linux 2.6.32-673.26.1.lve1.4.29.el6.x86_64.  I have up to PHP 7 available as an option.

Thanks.
